Liberman Warns Next Conflict in North Will Involve Syria and Lebanon

By TPS • 10 October, 2017

Jerusalem, 10 October, 2017 (TPS) -- The next war in the north will take place not just on the Lebanese front, but will also encompass the Syrian front as well, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman warned Tuesday.

“There is no such thing as the Lebanese front anymore, there is only the northern front. In any scenario there will only be one front, Syria and Lebanon together. Hezbollah, the [Bashar] Asssad regime and all the Assad regime proxies,” Liberman said at a Sukkot event at IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Even on the Lebanese front, we are no longer talking about just Hezbollah, we are talking about Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army together. The Lebanese Army has become an integral part of Hezbollah operating under its command. The Lebanese Army has lost its independence and has become indivisible from Hezbollah.

“It doesn’t matter where the next conflict begins, be it in the north or the south, it will immediately become a two-front conflict. There is no longer just one front, that is our working assumption and that is what we are preparing the army for,” Liberman added

Quoting the Latin adage ‘Si vis paccum, para bellum,’ if you want peace, prepare for war, Liberman said Israel’s enemies would be well advised to think twice before launching any attack on Israel “so that we don’t have to demonstrate all the IDF’s strengths and capabilities.”
