Consumer Price Index, October 2023

Jerusalem, 20 November, 2023 (TPS) -- Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released the data on the country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October 2023. The CPI gages inflation.

The CPI increased 0.5% in October 2023 compared to September 2023. It was 105.4 points compared to 104.9 points in the previous month (base: average 2022 = 100.0 points). The CPI excluding energy also increased 0.5% and was 105.4 points. The CPI excluding housing increased 0.7% and was 104.8 points and the CPI excluding vegetables and fruit decreased 0.4% and was 105.2 points.

Prices of the following groups increased in particular: clothing and footwear 3.9%, vegetables and fruit 3.2%, transport 1.0% and food 0.9%.

Prices of the following groups decreased in particular: culture and entertainment 0.9% and housing 0.4%.

Since the start of the year the CPI increased 3.4%. The CPI excluding housing and the CPI excluding energy increased 3.3%, each and the CPI excluding vegetables and fruit increased 3.1%.

Over the past 12 months (October 2023 compared to October 2022) the CPI increased 3.7%, the CPI excluding vegetables and fruit increased 3.6%, the CPI excluding energy increased 3.5% and the CPI excluding housing increased 3.4%.

In October 2023 the seasonally adjusted CPI, the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding housing increased and the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding vegetables, fruit and housing increased 0.3%, each.

Based on the trend data for the period July 2023 – October 2023, the annual pace of increase in the CPI and the annual pace of increase in the CPI excluding housing was 2.9%, each and the annual pace of increase CPI excluding vegetables, fruit and housing was 2.3%.
