Israel Adding Six New Public Transportation Centers
Jerusalem, 21 November, 2023 (TPS) -- Israel’s Transportation Ministry announced that approval was given Monday by the Knesset Committee for National Infrastructures (NIT) to promote six new “strategic” public transportation complexes in the central region of the country. The complexes will be established in Ra’anana, Rosh Ha’ayin, Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ekron and two in Yavne.
Some of the complexes will be used as an integrated transportation center (ITC), a transportation concept intended to upgrade public transportation throughout the country.
The centers will allow easy access on foot, by bicycle and by means of micro-mobility (electric bicycles and scooters), as well as dropping off and picking up passengers by private vehicle. They will offer optimal connectivity between all means Public transportation: buses and taxis, Israel Railways, light rail and metro. They will offer public spaces suitable for pedestrians, and includes a convenient connection to the employment centers and the residential areas around it.
