Ahed Tamimi freed from jail

Ahed Tamimi, the 17-year-old Palestinian girl who was arrested last December after a video of her slapping and kicking an IDF officer went viral, was released from prison Sunday morning after serving five months of an eight-month sentence. Israel Prison Service guards took her to the Rantis Checkpoint, northwest of Ramallah, from where she continued to her home village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank. A minor at the time of the arrest, Tamimi was detained for three months before being sentenced in March after reaching a plea bargain on four charges, including incitement and assault.
