Investment Funds’ Assets Total BGN 8.177 Billion in September

The assets managed by resident and non-resident investment funds operating in Bulgaria totaled BGN 8.177 billion ($4.3 billion) as of end-September 2022, the Bulgarian National Bank said on Monday.

They increased by BGN 401 million (5.2%) year-on-year (from BGN 7,776 billion), and decreased by BGN 105.5 million (1.3%) from June 2022.

The total amount of resident and non-resident investment funds assets added up to 5.3% of GDP as of end of September 2022, against 5.6% of GDP in September 2021.

The assets of resident investment funds amounted to BGN 2.645 billion as of end-September 2022 increasing by BGN 129.9 million (5.2%) year-on-year (BGN 2.515 billion). They decreased by BGN 36.5 million (1.4%) from June 2022 (BGN 2.682 billion).

Equity funds’ assets increased by BGN 181.9 million (15.7%) to BGN 1.342 billion at end-September 2022, compared with BGN 1,160 billion in September 2021, whereas mixed funds and other funds’ assets grew by BGN 16 million (3.6%) to BGN 453.2 million, from BGN 437.2 million in September 2021

Bond funds’ assets decreased by BGN 68 million (7.4%) to BGN 850 million in September 2022, from BGN 918 million in September 2021. Compared with June 2022, bond funds’ assets decreased by BGN 47.1 million (5.3%).

As of end-September 2022, equity funds held 50.7% in the assets of resident investment funds, against 46.1% reported in September 2021, and 49.5% in June 2022. Bond funds held 32.1% at the end of September 2022, against 36.5% in September 2021.

The currency breakdown of resident investment funds’ assets showed a prevailing share of assets denominated in BGN – 63.1% and in EUR – 32.3% at the end of September 2022, compared with 50% and 44.1% respectively at the end of September 2021.
