Jerusalem, 16 March, 2023 (TPS) -- SOFIA, 16.03.2023 (BTA)
The Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT), Bulgarian cargo drone companies, high-tech nanosatellite companies, and obtaining a Startup Visa for high-tech business development were among the topics of discussion by Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev and Dr. Einat Magal, Deputy Chief Scientist for Innovation at Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. The Bulgarian Ministry of Innovation and Growth said on Thursday that the meeting took place during Minister Pulev’s visit to Israel, where he met with Ofir Akunis, Israel’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
At the meeting Minister Pulev presented the first of its kind Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology – INSAIT, which works in close cooperation with Israel’s University of Technology Technion, as well as with Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry Prof. Dan Shechtman.
Minister Pulev also pointed out that Bulgarian cargo drone companies are providing various logistics services in Bulgaria with the ambition to transport shipments of up to 400 kg. In his belief, every government should be ready with these kinds of solutions, given the changing geopolitical situation and the movement of large swaths of people from one place to another. Pulev gave the example with the recent earthquake in Turkiye.
Best practices in Israel and the ecosystem of venture capital funds built by the government were also discussed. Minister Pulev invited Dr. Magal and her team on a working visit to Bulgaria.
