US Warship Downs Yemeni Missiles Heading Towards Israel
Jerusalem, 19 October, 2023 (TPS) -- A US warship in the Red Sea shot down three missiles fired from Yemen that were heading north, apparently towards Israel on Thursday night.
Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said the missiles, as well as several aerial drones, were shot down by the USS Carney, a destroyer.
“We cannot say for certain what these missiles and drones were targeting, but they were launched from Yemen heading north along the Red Sea, potentially towards targets in Israel,” Ryder said.
He added that the US was assessing what their specific target were.
In recent days, Iranian officials said that the Gaza war could develop from areas that do not share a border with Israel. Yemen’s Houthi militia is supported by Iran and has spoken out in recent days that it will join the campaign against Israel.
In the meantime the Iraqi Hezbollah terrorists have begun to act, announcing that they are joining the campaign launched by Hamas in the south. On Thursday night, they attacked the American base in Tanf, in southern Syria with drones.
A spokesperson for Iraqi Hezbollah said that the United States is complicit in the killing of Gazans and is helping Israel.
This was preceded by reports in Syrian, Lebanese and Iraqi media about the militias and their movement towards the Golan Heights.
