Graves of Fallen Soldiers Ahead of Israel’s Memorial Day

Jerusalem, 9 May, 2024 (TPS-IL) -- Flags were placed on graves in all of the country’s military cemeteries ahead of Yom HaZikaron (Hebrew for Day of Memory), Israel’s Memorial Day, which begins at sundown on Sunday night. Pictured here are a row of graves at Israel’s Mt. Herzl national military cemetery in Jerusalem.
In Israel military cemeteries are for those who fell while in the security service of the country, including police and other services.
In Israel Memorial Day is observed the day before Independence Day, which begins next Monday night.
