‘Mamagama’ To Represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2025
Jerusalem, 19 February, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijan’s official entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 has been revealed. The Mamagama group will perform a dynamic and energetic song called “Run with U” on the European stage in May. The lyrics of the song are by Asef Mishiyev, and the music is by Asef Mishiyev, Hasan Heydar and Roman Zilianev.
Public Television told AZERTAC that “Run with U” will bring a new breath of fresh air to the Eurovision scene with its modern sound technology, powerful rhythms and catchy melody. The song aims to give listeners an inspiring feeling.
The song’s official video, shot in a futuristic style, also features artists who have participated in Azerbaijan’s Eurovision history. The main plot of the video is based on a story emphasizing the power of music: a robot struggles to come back to life, but despite all the efforts of the band members Hasan and Arif, this is not possible. The 2023 Eurovision participants, twin brothers Tural and Turan, also join them to support, but still fail. In the end, everything changes with the arrival of 2024 participants Fahree and Ilkin Dovletov. Ilkin, distinguished by his mysterious voice and a magnificent performer of our mughams, brings the saz that keeps alive the deep cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and presents it to Hasan and Arif. The moment the strings of the saz are touched, magic happens – the robot comes back to life.
While Azerbaijani national instruments have performed on the Eurovision stage in previous years, for the first time, the sounds of the saz will spread across Europe. This instrument symbolizes the powerful connection between the soul and the human being, and the power of music to give life even to inanimate objects.
The creative team of the clip tried to create a perfect harmony of music and visual aesthetics. Nurlana Jafarova, head of the Azerbaijani delegation at Eurovision, and Turab Teymurov, head of media, shared their thoughts on this: “We created this clip not just as a music video, but also as a story with deep meaning. The robot’s return to life is an indicator not only of technology, but also of the eternal power of music to influence the human spirit. The fact that saz plays a key role in this process is a symbol of our love and respect for our cultural heritage. We hope that this visual and musical harmony will give the audience an unforgettable experience.”

The Mamagama group consists of young and talented musicians – Asaf Mishiyev, Hasan Heydar and Arif Imanov. Their music is distinguished by a combination of different styles and modern approaches. The song “Run with U” will be a great opportunity to introduce the group’s creativity to an international audience. Mamagama will perform on stage in the second part of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 13.
