Jerusalem, 20 February, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – As a result of the measures taken by Azerbaijan’s State Service for Special Communications and Information Security, 814,370,000 emails with malicious connections to the information resources of state institutions were blocked by the “AzStateNet” network in 2024.

This included more than four million emails with malicious files blocked through the central antivirus system installed on end users, and over 195,000 malicious electronic documents blocked through the “Sandbox” protection system.

AZERTAC reports that the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security published information about this.

In addition, by using cyber intelligence, 100 fake domains resembling those of government agencies were detected and blocked last year.

During 2024, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security identified 1,069 cyberattack indicators as a result of the analysis of cyberattacks.

As a result of blocking the aforementioned cyberattack indicators, APT cyberattacks specifically targeted against state institutions were prevented. 550 of these cyberthreats were identified as a result of monitoring conducted by the service, and 520 were identified based on requests from state institutions.

During the reporting period, more than 30,255,000 emails were processed in the state email service created for state institutions by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security, of which over 28,142,000 were delivered to users, and more than 2,112,0000 were blocked after being identified as containing malicious content.

As a result of audits and monitoring conducted by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security during 2024, security gaps were identified in 857 information resources of state institutions and were sent to state institutions with appropriate notifications for elimination.

For comparison, it should be noted that as a result of audits/pentest audits and monitoring conducted in state institutions during the same period in 2023, security gaps and deficiencies were identified and eliminated in 553 state information systems.
