Israeli Soldiers Rescue 4-Year-Old Sent by Hamas to Approach Army Position
Jerusalem, 12 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Hamas is exploiting Gaza children to test the responsiveness of soldiers, Col. Avichay Adraee, the Israel Defense Force’s Arabic language spokesperson tweeted on Wednesday.
“Yesterday, IDF forces spotted a four-year-old Palestinian child approaching an IDF position in the security zone inside the Gaza Strip. The forces returned the child to the Strip in coordination with the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit and the international community,” Adraee tweeted.
“During the conversation with the soldiers, the child said that Hamas members had sent him to an IDF position in the area,” he added.
“It is clear that the terrorist organization Hamas does not hesitate to use all means and methods to exploit civilians and children in a ridiculous manner in order to promote terrorist activities.”
The tweet was accompanied by two photos of a barefooted child wearing a pink hooded jacket. One showed the child, whose face was blurred, sitting with soldiers and eating a snack. A second photo showed a soldier leading the child back.
The army routinely warns Palestinians for their safety not to approach soldiers.
At least 1,180 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 59 remaining hostages, 36 are believed to be dead.
