Azerbaijani Traditional Karate Team Wins Gold

Jerusalem, 11 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The Azerbaijani traditional karate team won another medal at the 10th Fudokan style World Championship held in Pulawy, Poland.

AZERTAC reports that among adults, Hajiali Velizadeh (+80 kilograms) won gold, and Kamran Heydarzadeh (80 kilograms) won bronze.

In the competition for athletes under 21, Vusal Seyidov (60 kilograms) rose to the highest step of the podium.

In the veterans’ competition, Siyavush Bayramov (75 kilograms) came third.

In the youth category, Tahir Alakbarov (75 kilograms) won gold, and Mahammad Bagirov (65 kilograms) won silver.

Shafaqat Zeynalli (60 kilograms) won first place among girls, and Korkhmaz Safarli (60 kilograms) won first place among junior boys.

In the children’s competition, Yusif Mustafazadeh (35 kilograms) won the bronze medal.

In the men’s absolute weight category, Babek Kalamzadeh defeated his Armenian opponent 4:0 in the first fight. After four fights, our karateka lost to his Polish opponent in the final due to injury and won the silver medal.

The Fudokan Karate World Championships are held every four years.
