Azerbaijan’s Non-Oil Sector Exports Exceeded $1B in First Quarter of Year

Jerusalem, 29 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – In January-April of this year, Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector exports increased by 18 percent compared to the same period in 2024, amounting to $1.1 billion.

AZERTAC reports, citing the May issue of the “Export Review” of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, that in January-April 2025, food exports increased by 12.1 percent and amounted to $300.8 million.

According to the review, in January-April 2025, compared to the same period last year, exported chemical industry products increased by $35 million or 42.5 percent, sugar by $1.9 million or 25.8 percent, ferrous metals and products made from them by $4.1 million or 16.7 percent, fruits and vegetables by $26.8 million or 14.8 percent, aluminum and products made from it by $6.1 million or 9.8 percent, and cotton yarn by $360.9 thousand or 5.3 percent.

In the first four months of this year, agricultural products exported increased by 14 percent to $232.7 million, while agro-industrial products increased by 7.9 percent to $90.8 million. Overall, combined exports of agricultural and agro-industrial products increased by 12.2 percent to $323.6 million.

In the list of non-oil sector goods exported during the period, gold ($95.4 million) ranked first, followed by tomatoes ($74.7 million) and urea ($63.5 million).

Gold ($30.2 million) ranked first in the list of non-oil sector goods exported during April 2025. Tomatoes ($30.16 million) ranked second, and cotton ($22.1 million) ranked third.

In the first four months of this year, non-oil sector goods worth $321.4 million were exported to the Russian Federation, $187.7 million to Turkey, $105.8 million to Georgia, $100.5 million to Switzerland, and $63 million to Ukraine.

In April of this year, non-oil sector goods worth $88.5 million were exported to the Russian Federation, $53.3 million to Turkey, $30.9 million to Switzerland, $25.1 million to Georgia, and $14.2 million to Kazakhstan.

The following companies were represented in the top ten of the ranking of non-state exporting entities prepared for January-April: “MKT Istehsalat Kommersiya” LLC, the representative office of “Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited” in Azerbaijan, the branch of UNITED ALLIANCE GROUP LTD in Azerbaijan, “Baku Steel Company” CJSC, “Avrora” LLC, P-AQRO LLC, “Export Stream” LLC, “Bina Aqro” CJSC, “Sahdag Sy” LLC, “Lepin LM” LLC.

The list of state-owned companies involved in non-oil sector export operations is headed by the Marketing and Economic Operations Department of SOCAR. The following companies are also represented in this list: “SOCAR Polymer” LLC, “AzerGold” CJSC, “Azeraluminium” LLC, Gas Export Department of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Azerpambiq Agrarian Industrial Complex” LLC, “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC, “AzerEnergy” ATSC, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic State Energy Service, “Garadagh Glass Factory” OJSC.

In January-April 2025, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos) exported satellite telecommunication services worth $5.6 million to 40 countries around the world. Azercosmos’s revenue from service exports accounted for 65 percent of its total revenue. In April 2025, Azercosmos exported services worth $1.6 million to 38 countries around the world.

The top five exporters of satellite telecommunications services during January-April 2025 were the United Kingdom with $1.5 million, Luxembourg with $1.2 million, Nigeria with $255,000, Egypt with $238,600, and Turkey with $238,500.
