Iran Launches Fresh Missile Barrage, Sending Millions of Israelis to Shelters

Public By Pesach Benson • 14 June, 2025

Jerusalem, 14 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli emergency crews are at the scene of an Iranian missile fall in the Haifa metropolitan area on Saturday night following a fresh barrage.

Millions of Israelis were instructed to go to shelters.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces said it was continuing strikes on Tehran.

Following previous barrages over the weekend, Magen David Adom emergency responded reported around 70 injuries, including several people in critical condition. Three of those wounded later died from their injuries. They were identified as Etti Cohen Engel, a woman in her 60s from Ramat Gan; 73-year-old Yisrael Aloni of Rishon LeZion; the third fatality was Yevgenia Blinder, 74, who was also killed in Rishon LeZion.

Most of the other casualties suffered light to moderate injuries or were treated for anxiety.

All public gatherings remain banned, and schools and non-essential workplaces are closed until further notice. The Education Ministry announced that students nationwide would transition to distance learning starting Sunday and graduation exams will also be postponed by a week.

Israel’s Ministry of Energy ordered the temporary shutdown of two of its three offshore gas fields as a precaution.

Israel launched preemptive strikes against Iranian nuclear sites early Friday, citing intelligence that Tehran had reached “a point of no return” in its pursuit of nuclear weapons. According to Israeli defense officials, Iran has developed the capacity to rapidly enrich uranium and assemble nuclear bombs, with sufficient fissile material for up to 15 weapons.

Israeli intelligence also exposed a covert program to complete all components of a nuclear device. The strikes mark a dramatic escalation in what officials describe as a broader Iranian strategy combining nuclear development, missile proliferation, and proxy warfare aimed at Israel’s destruction.
