Bulgarian Firefighters Hold Line as Wildfire Enters Fourth Day
Jerusalem, 25 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Strumyani (BTA) – The fire in the land of the village of Ilindentsi near Strumyani in southwest Bulgaria continues to burn for the fourth day, the director of the forestry department, Ivan Rizov, told BTA.
Rizov added that the situation is currently relatively calm – the fire is under control and the fire is not growing at this stage. Preventive water spraying on the periphery of the fire continues, the director of forestry added. He said that there are local outbreaks at the base of the fire, which he hopes will be extinguished by the end of the day.
A team of six employees of the State Forestry Agency – Strumyani and three firefighters are on site.
The fire, which covered about 100 acres of black pine forest, broke out on June 22 at around 8:00 p.m. in the land of the village of Ilindentsi near Strumyani.
