Azerbaijani Institute Leads Research on Novel Schiff Bases with Valuable Catalytic and Optical Properties
Jerusalem, 16 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The results of joint research conducted by scientists from Azerbaijan’s Institute of Additive Chemistry named after Academician Ali Guliyev of the Ministry of Science and Education with colleagues from Baku Engineering University and various scientific research centers in Russia have been published as an article in the world-famous Elsevier journal (“Journal Molecular Structure”) with an impact factor of 4.7, archived in the “Web of Science” database.
According to the information provided to AZERTAC by the institute, during the research, Azerbaijani scientists synthesized new Schiff bases and studied their structural properties in detail.
A detailed study revealed that the compounds obtained by an easy and convenient method yield reproducible products. Their crystal design is primarily influenced by various intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Based on the findings, the authors believe that Schiff bases containing a salicylaldehyde fragment promise new prospects in the development of high-tech functional materials.
A Schiff bases is a type of chemical compound that can act as building blocks for creating more complex molecules and have valuable catalytic, pharmaceutical and optical properties.
The research group is currently continuing its research to determine the full potential of these compounds and their potential applications as chromium materials.
