Azerbaijani Boxers to Participate in World Championship
Jerusalem, 2 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The first world championship among women and men boxers will kick off on September 4, organized by World Boxing.
According to the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, the Azerbaijani national team will also test its strength in the 11-day competition in Liverpool, England.
The men’s boxing team will compete in the World Cup with a full squad. Head coach Ravshan Khojayev, coaches Nariman Abdullayev and Etibar Abdullayev will give a chance to Subhan Mamedov (50 kilograms), Nijat Huseynov (55 kilograms), Mahammadali Gasimzadeh (60 kilograms), Zaur Gahramanov (65 kilograms), Sarkhan Aliyev (70 kilograms), Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kilograms), Murad Allahverdiyev (80 kilograms), Surat Garayev (85 kilograms), Alfonso Dominguez (90 kilograms) and Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kilograms) at the World Championship.
In the women’s competition, Azerbaijan will be represented by one boxer. Aynur Mikayilova (57 kilograms) will enter the ring under the leadership of head coach Ilkin Agayev.
The Azerbaijani national team, which left for Liverpool today, will return to Baku on September 15.
It should be noted that the draw for the world championship will be made on September 3. Up to 500 boxers from more than 60 countries are expected to participate in the competition.
