Red Moon Over the Holy Land

Jerusalem, 8 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- A “blood moon” appears in the sky over central Israel during a lunar eclipse on Sept. 7, 2925. The moon looks red in an eclipse because Earth’s air blocks most colors of sunlight, letting only red light reach the moon. Photo by Anthony Hershko/TPS-IL
