Poland on High Alert After Russian Drones Enter Airspace
Jerusalem, 10 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (PAP) – During Tuesday night’s attack by the Russian Federation on targets located on Ukrainian territory, Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. An operation is underway to identify and neutralize the targets. At the behest of the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, weapons have been deployed, and operations are underway to locate the downed targets.
Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced last night that Poland is in constant contact with NATO command, and Territorial Defence Force soldiers have been involved in the search for downed drones.
To ensure the security of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures. Polish and allied aircraft, ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of readiness.
Four Polish airports, including Chopin Airport in Warsaw, were closed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday due to “unplanned military activity related to ensuring national security,” the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced.
Also on Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that due to the “aggressive Russian-Belarusian Zapad exercises” starting on Friday, the border with Belarus, including railway crossings, will be closed on Thursday night and Friday.
