Over 400 Fires Recorded in Sliven Region This Summer, Officials Say
Jerusalem, 10 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Sliven (BTA) – Over 400 fires have been registered this summer on the territory of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection – Sliven, Chief Inspector Rosen Georgiev, acting head of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection – Sliven, told BTA. For the Regional Service in Sliven alone, the number of fires is around 200.
According to Georgiev, the plans for replacing and modernizing the equipment depend on the Main Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection. Public procurements have already been announced for new light, medium, and heavy fire engines, and the Sliven service is also expected to receive such ones. “All vehicles are in good condition and are used whenever their intervention is needed,” said Georgiev.
He added that currently, a vehicle of the directorate from the Tvarditsa regional service has been sent to extinguish the fires in the Rila Mountains.
Georgiev also said that the personnel are well-prepared and always give their best in the event of an accident. “When there are no accidents, we conduct training sessions and various plans to maintain the readiness of the firefighters,” he added.
