Bulgarian Scientists Shine in 2025 Global Research Impact List
Jerusalem, 29 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Fifty-seven scientists affiliated with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) are among the top two percent of the most influential scientists in the world, according to this year’s ranking for overall career development of researchers, known as the Stanford Rankings, the Academy announced.
Twenty of them are academicians and corresponding members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and the rest are professors at the Academy’s institutes. The general list for 2025 includes the names of a total of 91 Bulgarian researchers, the Academy said.
The ranking is prepared annually based on an analysis of the scientometric indicators of about 11 million scientists with publications referenced in the Scopus database, and reflects the impact that an individual researcher has had on the development of science.
In addition to the overall career development ranking, a separate ranking is also prepared for scientific achievements in the previous year. It includes five more scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences who do not appear on the main list.
In 2023, a total of 78 Bulgarian scientists are among the top two percent of top scientists in the world, sixteen of whom are members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) – academicians and corresponding members, and another 33 are scientists from the Academy.
