Azerbaijan Wins Silver at European Team Chess Championship

Jerusalem, 15 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – The closing ceremony of the European Team Chess Championship was held in Batumi, Georgia.

According to the Azerbaijan Chess Federation , in addition to the teams, chess players who distinguished themselves on the boards were also awarded at the event. Eltaj Safarli, one of the Azerbaijani representatives, was awarded a gold medal for taking first place on the third board. The chess player surpassed all his colleagues with three wins and four draws.

Among the female chess players, Gulnar Mammadova took third place on the fourth board. G. Mammadova, who won six victories in eight rounds, was presented with a bronze medal at the closing ceremony.

The Azerbaijani men’s team, which took second place in the European Championship, was awarded a silver medal, diploma, and cup at the event. The awards were presented by Mahir Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Vice-President of the International Chess Federation.
