Six Azerbaijanis Vie for World Karate Championship

Jerusalem, 25 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijani karate athletes who will participate in the world championship to be held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, have been announced.

The Karate Federation told AZERTAC that six athletes will represent Azerbaijan at the World Cup on a license basis.

Nuran Rzazade (67 kilograms), Turgut Hasanov (84 kilograms), Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kilograms) will test their strength in the men’s competition, while Medina Sadiqova (55 kilograms) and Irina Zaretska (68 kilograms) will test their strength in the women’s competition. Roman Heydarov will compete in the kata competition.

The Azerbaijani national parakarate team will also participate in the tournament.

The World Championship will be held from November 27 to 30.
