Water Network Upgrade in Yambol Cuts Losses by Over 300,000 Liters Daily
Jerusalem, 26 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Yambol (BTA) – The reconstruction of the water supply network and part of the sewage system in one of the large residential areas of the southeastern Bulgarian city of Yambol has been completed. With this, water losses for the city as a whole have been reduced by over 300,000 liters per day, and in the Avren neighborhood, they have been reduced to zero, announced the “Water Supply and Sewerage” (VoD) Yambol.
The renovation of the water supply network in the neighborhood began in April this year as part of the company’s investment program. Over 3.5 million leva were invested in the project. The activities were carried out by an external company.
The total length of the reconstructed street water pipes is nearly 5,100 meters. 497 building water pipe branches with a total length of 3,668.30 meters have been completed, and 24 new above-ground fire hydrants have been installed, the Water and Sewerage Department announced.
Within the framework of the project, a new sewerage system was built along “Marmorno More” Street with a length of over 510 meters, as well as 33 diversions to the adjacent properties. After the repair, a new asphalt pavement was laid on the street.
The renovation of the over 50-year-old water supply network in the Avren district was necessary due to frequent accidents and water losses of over 77.4 percent, the company’s manager, Hristina Mikutseva, told BTA earlier . The reconstruction significantly improves the water supply pressure, and there is now an opportunity for segmentation and easier management of water flows to the district, ViK – Yambol indicated.
