Jerusalem, 20 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Beijing (AZERTAC) – A freight train line has been opened from Tianjin, one of China’s major port cities, to Azerbaijan via the Trans-Caspian international transport route – the Middle Corridor.

AZERTAC reports that on January 19, the first freight train on this line departed from Tianjin. The train, loaded with steel pipes, household appliances and other goods, will reach Kazakhstan from the Horgos customs point in China, and from there via the Caspian Sea to Baku. The train will cover the approximately 7,000-kilometer route in 20 days. This is 10 days shorter than the traditional sea route. In the future, it is also planned to send cargo from Tianjin to other destinations from Baku.

A separate freight train line to Azerbaijan via the Central Corridor currently operates in several cities in China.
