AZERTAC, Baku State University Launch Special Auditorium to Strengthen Media-Education Ties

Jerusalem, 22 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The opening ceremony of a special auditorium of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), which will contribute to the development of cooperation between the media and education sectors, was held at the Baku State University (BSU).

The event was attended by executives of the university, AZERTAC and numerous media organizations, as well as public representatives, intellectuals and teachers.

Addressing the event, Rector of Baku State University (BSU) Elchin Babayev emphasized that the efforts of a prestigious media organization like AZERTAC in increasing students’ practical knowledge has always been regarded as an indicator of development and quality.

“We truly believe that the agency’s special auditorium will become an important destination where deep knowledge transforms into professional expertise. While preparing our materials, we consistently refer to AZERTAC’s news. The accuracy, promptness, and high quality of the photo materials distinguish AZERTAC as a reliable source of information. I would like to express my gratitude for setting up this beautiful auditorium and wish them success in their activities,” Babayev said.

He emphasized that the activities of the auditorium will not only enrich the educational process, but will also create conditions for developing students’ practical skills and implementing innovative projects in media.

In his remarks, Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), emphasized: “The Baku State University (BSU) is the oldest and most prestigious higher educational institution training specialists useful to society across many areas, including journalists. As the alma mater of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, this institution continues its mission to cultivate the nation’s intelligentsia, imparting modern knowledge and professional standards to thousands of young people today. The University’s Faculty of Journalism plays an important role in training professional journalists in Azerbaijan.”

Highlighting two key historic dates – the establishment of the BSU in 1919, and the founding of AZERTAC in 1920, AZERTAC Chairman of the Board noted: “This year, our university will celebrate its 107th anniversary, while AZERTAC will mark its 106th anniversary.”

“I am pleased to emphasize that AZERTAC and the BSU maintain close cooperation, which creates ample opportunities for the professional training of young personnel. In particular, the internship programs organized at AZERTAC for students of the Faculty of Journalism provide them with the opportunity to profoundly master modern media standards. Students who successfully complete the internship program and show excellent results are employed at the Agency,” Aliyev said.

Professor Jahangir Mammadli, head of BSU’s Department of History of National Press, said the news agency and the university are “both upholding national interests, bearing social responsibility, and closely connected with the people.”

Said Mammadli, “The cooperation established between the two prestigious institutions stands out as both successful and exemplary partnership. In particular, the fact that students of Baku State University’s Faculty of Journalism undertake an internship at AZERTAC and later begin their careers here as professional journalists, is a tangible and positive results of this collaboration.”

In his remarks, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, said: “I remember that the concept of a special auditorium was raised at one of the events held at the Baku State University (BSU). AZERTAC successfully implemented this idea, turning it into a practical and useful project. This initiative not only evokes pleasant memories but also remains a highly successful experience.”

Noting that such initiatives significantly contribute to the professional advancement of the youth and facilitate their seamless integration into today’s media landscape, Ahmad Ismayilov expressed his confidence that this trend would continue to develop consistently in the future.
