Azerbaijani Alpine Skier Qualifies for Next Stage at Winter Olympics

Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijani athlete Anastasia Papatoma has started competing in the alpine skiing slalom event at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

AZERTAC reports that the athlete completed his first descent in the competition held at the Tofane Alpine Ski Center in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The slalom skier, who started in 92nd place, crossed the finish line in 1:01:81 seconds. With this result, he is currently ranked 59th among 95 participants and has qualified for the next stage.

The athlete’s performance was watched by Chingiz Huseynzade, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, and Fuad Nagiyev, President of the Winter Sports Federation.

Earlier, Azerbaijani figure skater Vladimir Litvintsev scored 63.63 points in the short program, finishing last among 29 participants and bidding farewell to the competition.
