Azerbaijan Crowns National Capoeira Champions at Baku Tournament

Jerusalem, 23 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – A national capoeira cup was organized by the Azerbaijan Capoeira Federation (AKF) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the occasion of Baku being selected as the “World Sports Capital” for 2026.

AKF told AZERTAC that capoeira delegations and clubs representing various regions of the country participated in the tournament, which took place at the Balakhani Sports Center.

Competitions were held within the framework of the Cup among children, teenagers, youth and adults in various age and weight categories.

According to the final results of the competition, the “Pernada Capoeira” club was awarded third place, and “Nirvana Capoeira” was awarded second place. The “Wolf Capoeira” Academy won the title of winner of the Azerbaijan Cup as the team that won the most medals.

The main goal of the event was to contribute to the development of capoeira across the country, expand the exchange of experience among athletes, and further strengthen Baku’s position as an international sports center.
