Bulgaria’s Annual Inflation Falls to 3.3% in February
Jerusalem, 16 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Annual inflation in Bulgaria for February this year compared to the same month of the previous year decreased to 3.3 percent, according to data published today by the National Statistical Institute. The decrease compared to the previous month amounts to 0.2 percentage points, as the annual inflation in the first month of 2026 was 3.5 percent.
Annual inflation in Bulgaria, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), has decreased for the fifth consecutive month. The annual inflation data coincides with the preliminary flash estimate, which also reported 3.3 percent annual inflation for February.
Monthly inflation in February amounted to 0.4 percent — slightly above the express preliminary estimate, which reported 0.3 percent. Inflation since the beginning of the year reached 1 percent, and the average annual inflation for the period March 2025-February 2026 compared to the period March 2024-February 2025 is 4.5 percent.
The accumulated inflation, measured by the CPI, for the last three years (February 2026 compared to February 2023) is 11.1 percent, and for the last five years (February 2026 compared to February 2021) is 41.8 percent.
Bulgaria’s annual inflation, measured against the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which is applicable to European Union countries, amounts to 2.1 percent. The monthly inflation according to the HICP is 0.2 percent, the inflation since the beginning of the year is 0.8 percent, and the average annual inflation for the period March 2025- February 2026 compared to the period March 2024 – February 2025 is 3.3 percent.
The accumulated inflation, measured by the HICP, for the last three years (February 2026 compared to February 2023) is 9.8 percent, and for the last five years (February 2026 compared to February 2021) is 35.3 percent.
