Baku’s Heydar Aliyev Airport Honored as Best Airport in Central Asia and CIS
Jerusalem, 24 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (BTA) Azerbaijan’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport has been awarded the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026 in the category, “Best Airport in Central Asia and the CIS”, reaffirming its status as the leading airport in the region.
The international airport in Baku told AZERTAC that the award was presented during an official ceremony held on March 18 in London as part of the Passenger Terminal Expo World exhibition, one of the leading platforms in the aviation industry.
The World Airport Awards are considered one of the most prestigious international awards in the aviation industry. These awards are determined on the basis of the largest annual independent survey of passengers worldwide. Presented since 1999, the awards are based on extensive assessments covering the passenger experience at more than 565 airports. The survey involves thousands of passengers from different countries and the results are formed completely independently.
The assessment takes into account all key stages of the passenger experience, including check-in, security and passport control, transit zones, shopping and service areas, as well as the entire service infrastructure up to the boarding process.
The fact that Heydar Aliyev International Airport has been awarded this prestigious award consistently demonstrates the continuous improvement of service quality at the airport, the application of modern management approaches, and the successful implementation of a development strategy in line with international standards. With its modern infrastructure, passenger-oriented service model, and innovative technological solutions, the airport further strengthens its position as one of the main aviation hubs in the region.
