Jerusalem, 12 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijani satellites provide telecommunications, broadcasting, and internet services in a wide geography covering Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. This was stated by Yolchu Hasanov, Advisor on Sales to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azercosmos, in an interview with AZERTAC.

Hasanov noted that the organization currently operates in 39 African countries. Satellite services cover 70 percent of the continent and provide access to more than 100 million households.

According to him, the main part of Azercosmos’s income is formed precisely from the export of satellite services. The organization is in the forefront among both state and non-state entities in terms of export volume in the service sector.

At the same time, the development of value-added services is also a priority. In this context, nine antennas belonging to international companies operate at Baku Teleport, and seven more antennas are planned.

Hasanov also said that the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Center of Azerkosmos has become one of the main providers of spatial data and analytical services in the region. The center regularly prepares climate reports to assess the impacts of global climate change on Azerbaijan, and artificial intelligence-based analytics and forecasting solutions are also used in these processes.

He said the “Climate Report” platform, launched in 2024, expands open access to climate data. In addition, digital solutions such as “Farmer App” and “Platerra,” developed based on satellite data, serve to increase productivity in agriculture and manage resources more efficiently.

The Aerospace Monitoring Training Center, established in 2022, has strengthened personnel training in this field. To date, the GIS center has trained more than 60 specialists.
