Azerbaijan Junior Boxers Sweep Nations Cup With 13 Medals

Jerusalem, 15 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – The Nations Cup among junior boxers in Vrbas, Serbia, has ended.

AZERTAC reports that every member of the Azerbaijani national team, which sent 13 athletes to the international tournament, which was attended by eight countries, won a medal.

In the U-17 team, headed by Vagif Kazimov, Rustam Nasibov (50 kilograms), Ismail Nasirzade (52 kilograms), Ali Abasli (60 kilograms), Vekil Gurbanov (63 kilograms), Hidayet Mammadov (70 kilograms), Yusif Agakishiyev (75 kilograms) and Mehran Rasulov (+80 kilograms) rose to the highest step of the podium.

Aydin Shahbazov (46 kilograms), Nihat Mammadli (48 kilograms), Ali Jamalzadeh (57 kilograms), Shukar Aliyev (80 kilograms) won silver, and Hasrat Mammadov (46 kilograms) and Eljan Musazadeh (54 kilograms) won bronze medals.

The Azerbaijani national team, which won seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals, took first place in the team standings. Vakil Gurbanov was named the best foreign boxer of the competition, and Farhad Rahmanov was named the best referee.
