Bulgaria’s Viktoria Angelova Wins World U20 Triple Jump Title
Jerusalem, 10 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Eugene, USA (BTA) – Seventeen-year-old Bulgarian athlete Viktoria Angelova became world champion in the triple jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Coached by Georgi Pomashki, Angelova leapt 13.91 metres with a 1.9 m/s headwind to claim the gold medal. Her series of attempts was: foul – 12.75 (-1.2) – 13.14 (-1.3) – 13.05 (-2.6) – 13.06 (-0.3) – 13.91 (-1.9).
Romania’s Daria Vanceanu finished second with 13.70 meters (+0.3), while Spain’s Ana Estrella de Leon took bronze with 13.58 (-1.4).
On July 19, Angelova also won the European U18 title in Rieti, Italy, with a world-leading U18 mark of 13.98 metres for the year.
With Angelova’s gold medal, Bulgaria ranks among the top 15 nations at the championships.
