Eurovision 2027 to Put Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast in Global Spotlight
Jerusalem, 19 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in the Burgas region is a chance for Bulgaria to show its hospitality, culture, traditions and improve its image as a tourist destination for years to come, the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (BHRA) said.
“We have a huge chance to represent our country in all areas, and whether we have succeeded will only be known in 2028,” emphasized the chairman of the Bulgarian Tourism Association Georgi Shterev. “Practice shows that when such events are successfully held with a view to the future, growth in the tourism sector next year is certain.”
“Eurovision is an opportunity to develop the destination, to fill the wings of the season, which we have been talking about for years, and it is wonderful that Burgas was chosen as the host, which gives a real chance to the entire region, and the entire Black Sea Coast, to be in focus and become more visible and recognizable,” Shterev added.
He called on authorities to consider boosting transportation, including sea transport, to connect the various resorts and cities along the Black Sea coast, so that guests of Eurovision 2027 can see, for example, the Roman Baths and the oldest gold in the world in Varna, the Palace in Balchik, the Old Town of Nessebar and the dozens of cultural landmarks along the coast.
“Hosting Eurovision 2027 will provide an opportunity for a new presentation of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, something that has not been done for years,” said Georgi Trapkov, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast Association and head of the organization’s structure in Pomorie. “This is a chance to show our hospitality to guests who, under other equal conditions, might not have made it to Bulgaria.”
The organizing committee of the Burgas municipality, when applying to host the competition, created an informal council, contacted a large part of the businesses in the region and discussed how to best organize the entire event – with accommodation, transport, catering, accompanying events, party areas, to add value to the event and ensure that all guests leave with positive impressions, Trapkov said.
He noted that cconsideration is being given to how to use all transport options for arriving in Burgas via the airports in Sofia and Istanbul. A competitive advantage of the Burgas region is that the bed base in Sunny Beach can be used, and there are over 150,000 beds just 20 kilometers from the city.
Veselin Nalbantov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Tourism Association, said the industry will work to keep hotel prices down, provide free shuttles and accelerate the issuing of visas for workers from third countries.
Burgas will host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. The two semi-finals will be on May 11 and 13. The final will be on May 15.
