Azerbaijani Junior Badminton Players Win 17 Medals at Batumi Cup

Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Azerbaijani junior badminton players were among the medalists in the 3-year age category at the “Batumi Cup Youth International 2026” international tournament held in Batumi, Georgia.

According to the Badminton Federation , the athletes won five gold, four silver and eight bronze medals in the competition.

In the tournament, which was attended by badminton players representing Azerbaijan, Turkey, Israel, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia, Murad Garayev – Aida Gurbanova, Murad Garayev – Dogan Ayan (Turkey), Ismail Garayev – Zulfiqar Karimli, Yusif Kamalov – Omar Mehdi and Omar Mehdi won gold medals. Murad Garayev and Yusif Kamalov won silver medals in the boys’ individual competition, while Banu Ibrahimli won silver medals in the girls’ individual competition.

In the U-15 mixed doubles category, the tandem of Omer Mehdi – Ayla Zeynalova also took silver medals. Aida Gurbanova – Melis Demir (Turkey), Ismail Garayev, Zulfugar Karimli, Deniz Ahmadli, Lala Ismayilova, Zulfugar Karimli – Deniz Ahmadli, Ismail Garayev – Lala Ismayilova and Deniz Ahmadli – Lala Ismayilova won bronze medals.
