Danube Water Levels Continue to Fall in Bulgaria, Navigation Restrictions Remain

Jerusalem, 2 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Ruse (BTA) – The hydrological situation in the Bulgarian section of the Danube River remains complicated. A gradual drop in the level is observed, with minimal fluctuations reported over the last 24 hours. This was announced by the Executive Agency “Research and Maintenance of the Danube River” in Ruse.

An increase was registered at the water gauges near Silistra – by six centimeters, at Ruse – by four centimeters, at Svishtov – by two centimeters and at Nikopol – by a centimeter.
The level decreased by three centimeters at Novo Selo and Lom, and at Vidin and Oryahovo it dropped by a centimeter.

According to information from the River Supervision Directorate in Ruse at the Executive Agency for Maritime Administration, the barge that ran aground two days ago in the area of ​​Batin Island has not yet been freed from the sands. It is outside the shipping lane, and passage in the area is carried out with increased caution.

All restrictions on vessel navigation are in effect for the entire stretch of the river.

Near Ruse, the river level today is minus 106 cm compared to the conditional zero level. The forecast for the next two days is for it to drop by two centimeters.
