Bulgaria Records 2.8% Economic Growth in Second Quarter

Jerusalem, 7 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Bulgaria’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year and by 0.7 percent compared to the previous quarter, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced today.

The data was revised slightly upward from the previous estimate, which indicated growth of 2.7 percent on an annualized basis and 0.6 percent on a quarterly basis.

A report from the National Statistical Institute shows that in the first quarter of the year, GDP grew by 2.9 percent compared to the first quarter of the previous year and by 0.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.

In the second quarter of 2026, final consumption accounted for 79.0 percent of GDP, while investment accounted for 23.0 percent of GDP, the statistical office said. The foreign trade balance of goods and services is negative.
