Israel Confirms Killing Third Hamas Brigade Commander in Two Weeks

Jerusalem, 29 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Israel confirmed killing a Hamas brigade commander on Tuesday morning, the third in two weeks.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Izz al-Din Bik, commander of Hamas’ northern Gaza Brigade, was killed in an overnight airstrike.

“We will continue to hunt and pursue all of the organization’s terrorists, from its commanders down to its last operative, wherever they may hide – until Hamas no longer exists in Gaza,” Netanyahu and Katz said.

Al-Bik’s killing is the third Hamas brigade commander killed by Israel in recent weeks. The commander of the Khan Younis Brigade, Muhammad Yazouri, was killed on Sept. 11, followed by the commander of the Rafah Brigade, Na’el Abu Obeid on Sept. 15.

On Sunday, Israel killed Hamas financier Shadi Abu Hasir, who oversaw the transfer of millions of dollars to the terror group.
