Israelis Stranded by Northern Ethiopian Violence Airlifted to Safety

Jerusalem, 30 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- A group of Israelis stranded in Ethiopia’s was airlifted to safety following a three-day rescue effort, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

The Israelis were transported by helicopter from Lalibela, in the northern region of Amhara, to Addis Ababa. Fighting between rebels in the Tigray region has spread to the adjacent Amhara and Afar regions.

The Israeli airlift was coordinated by the Foreign Ministry and Ethiopian authorities.
