Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Sofia (BTA) – Bulgarian energy facilities are ready for the winter season, Energy Minister Iva Petrova told the parliamentary committee in response to a question.

She added that regulatory obligations are being fulfilled and, where necessary, headquarters have been formed for actions in crisis and emergency situations.

The assurances the minister gave are the result of inspections she ordered and which were carried out in September. Some are continuing into October, but most have been completed.

Bulgargaz has secured quantities of natural gas for the winter season, Petrova added. According to her, the injection into the Chiren underground gas storage facility guarantees the provision of the necessary quantities for the winter months.

“Some of the work on repairing Sofia’s heat transmission network is still being carried out, but we have assurances from “Toplofikatsiya-Sofia” that it will be ready at the start of the heating season, said Petrova.

She added that problems with the company continue due to its obligations to Bulgargaz and the Bulgarian Energy Holding. There are also concerns about the state of the network and the guarantee of the quality of service, the minister explained to the deputies.
