Shelah: Abu Mazen Main Obstacle to Gaza Rehabilitation

Jerusalem, 3 July, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- Mahmoud Abbas (Abu-Mazen) is the main obstacle to rehabilitating the Gaza strip, Yesh Atid MK Ofer Shelah said Tuesday.
“Seniors in the Security Apparatus are saying that Abu Mazen is the main obstacle to alleviating the crisis in Gaza,” said Shelah, adding “We must not let him drag us to an unnecessary war.”
Shelah continued to say that if Abbas will not cooperate with Israel’s efforts to stop the escalation, Israel can bypass him. “There are things we can do alone, there are things we can do with the U.N Special Envoy [Nikolay] Mladenov,” said Shelah, adding that “We even have control of the bill, that we can give to the Palestinian Authority after the deed.”
“Today, even Netanyahu and Liberman admit, with their actions if not their words, that we must create a better reality in Gaza, not for their benefit but for ours,” Shelah concluded, “Otherwise, we will be dragged into the next war, which will only bring blood and suffering and will not achieve a thing,” he added.
