Jerusalem, 6 August, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- The Israeli Nurses Union is to commence an open-ended general strike starting Tuesday in protest at violence against nurses and medical staff at hospitals.
The Nurses Union said the decision to strike was made “due to the state’s incompetence to combat serious violence in the medical field,” as well as the lack of implementation of recommendations by an official committee appointed to combat the phenomenon in April.
Ilana Cohen, chairwoman of the Nurses Union, said the strike is to continue until steps are implemented in order to alleviate the load put on hospital staffs, as well as to sufficiently protect medical personnel.
