Jerusalem, 5 November, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- A group of senior Catholic bishops has called on the government to repeal the Nation State Law as it provides “a constitutional and legal basis for discrimination among Israeli citizens.”

“Our faithful, Christians, our  fellow citizens Muslim, Druse and Baha’i, all of us who are no less citizens of this country than our Jewish brothers and sisters,” read the statement issued by the senior Catholic clerics, including Pierbattista Pizzaballa. Apostolic Administrator of Jerusalem and Francesco Patton, Custos of the Holy Land.

The clerics said the Nation State Law “provides a constitutional and legal basis for discrimination among Israeli citizens, clearly stating the principles by which Jewish citizens must be privileged over others.”
