Jerusalem, 25 November, 2019 (TPS-IL) -- The IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kohavi met with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley in Israel on Sunday, and “the two discussed current operational issues and regional developments,” the IDF stated.

Kochavi “expressed his appreciation to General Milley for his many years of support of the collaboration between the armies,” the IDF said.

This is Milley’s first trip to the Middle East as Chairman, and his visit to Israel is part of a series of meetings with military leaders “to assess the current security situation and to reaffirm the United States’ commitment to the region,” the US Army stated.

“The US and Israel enjoy a strong military-to-military relationship as key partners committed to peace and security in the Middle East region,” a statement by the Army said.

General Milley’s visit follows others by senior US military officers in the past month, as part of the armies’ cooperation, the IDF added.

US General David Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the US Airforce, was in Israel last week.
