2 MKs Test Positive for COVID-19
Jerusalem, 21 December, 2020 (TPS-IL) -- Another two Members of Knesset (MK) tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as the number of new cases in Israel continues to climb.
MK Hila Vazan announced Monday morning that she tested positive for the virus.
MK Yaacov Asher was tested positive on Sunday.
Both are in good condition.
MK David Bitan, who tested positive two weeks ago and who was admitted to the intensive care unit at Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital last Saturday after feeling unwell and suffering from difficulty breathing, is still in serious condition.
His family stated Sunday that on the recommendation of the medical staff, he continues to be connected to an Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation device and “is communicating with his surroundings.”
Several ministers and MKs have contracted the virus, but none have been hospitalized.
The Ministry of Health updated Monday morning that it recorded 2,821 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Of the 70,575 tests done Tuesday, a climbing 4.1% returned positive.
According to the Ministry of Health’s data, 456 patients are hospitalized in serious condition, of whom 117 are on life support.
3,101 Israelis have died of the virus since the outbreak in February.
