Israeli Man Killed, Another Injured in Jordan Valley Shooting
Jerusalem, 11 August, 2024 (TPS) -- An Israeli man was killed and a second man was injured in a drive-by shooting attack in the Jordan Valley on Sunday.
Yehonatan Deutsch, a 23-year-old resident of Beit Shean was declared dead at the scene by Magend David Adom responders. Deutsch had recently been released from the army and became engaged.
Injured in a separate vehicle was 32 year-old Israeli-Arab Anas Jaramana. A resident of the northern village of Muqeible, Jaramana was evacuated to Haifa’s Rambam Hospital for treatment of moderate-serious gunshot wounds.
Senior MDA medic Mati Karmi said that “when we arrived at the scene, we attended to a 33-year-old wounded man who was conscious with gunshot wounds to his lower body, during the medical treatment that included stopping bleeding and connecting him to the MDA helicopter that landed in the area, we received a report of an unconscious casualty with gunshot wounds in another vehicle. Together with a military medical force, we gave the second injured person medical treatment, but his injury was fatal and we had no choice but to determine his death.”
Security forces launched a manhunt, setting up roadblocks for the suspect. Highway 90 is currently closed to traffic.
