Jerusalem, 20 May, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli Police arrested 13 people, including employees of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality’s sanitation department on Monday on charges of public corruption, money laundering and fraudulent invoicing worth hundreds of millions of shekels, the police announced.

A police investigation found that employees of companies providing services to the municipal sanitation department gave bribes and favors to members of the department, who then rigged public tenders.

The police also found that those companies distributed and offset fictitious invoices amounting to hundreds of millions of shekels and pocketed tens of millions of shekels for themselves.

Implicated in the investigation are Jewish and Arab organized crime groups.
