34,000 Chickens Killed in Fire at Bulgarian Poultry Farm

Jerusalem, 8 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Chirpan (BTA) – About 34,000 chickens have died in a fire near a chicken barn on a poultry farm, near the central Bulgarian village of Gita, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Stara Zagora announced.

The fire broke out at noon on September 6. The report was filed by a 36-year-old man, who explained that dry grass was burning north of a metal coal storage shed.

As a result of the fire, two halls and the facilities in them were completely burned down. An inspection of the scene was carried out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

BTA recalls that on September 6, firefighters responded to a total of 12 incidents in the Stara Zagora region. In the afternoon, fires burned in the Stara Zagora neighborhood of Lozenets, at the train station in the village of Gorno Sahrane, as well as in the Opan village of Byal Izvor.

In February 2025, tens of thousands of chickens burned in a fire at a poultry farm in the Chirpan village of Svoboda.
