Jerusalem, 7 January, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Tirana (ATA) – Prime Minister Edi Rama received in Vlora on Monday Israeli Rabbi Yosiyahu Yosef Pinto, who is paying a visit to Albania.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Albania is a model country of religious brotherhood, where Jews were protected like nowhere else during World War II.

“With honor and humility, I had the privilege of hosting Rabbi Yosiyahu Yosef Pinto for the second time in Albania — a model country of religious brotherhood, where Jews were protected like nowhere else during World War II,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister said that “it was a privilege to visit Vlora with him, the city where Jews settled centuries ago.”

Rama informed the rabbi that the area that was once a Jewish neighborhood and that construction of a Jewish Museum will soon begin.

The Jewish Museum will be a testament to the coexistence between Jews and Albanians in Vlora, especially during the Holocaust. It confirms the help that Albanians gave to the Jewish community in Vlora.

Rabbi Pinto is a prominent religious figure and spiritual leader, known for his influence in the Jewish community and beyond. He is the founder and leader of the organization “Shuva Israel,” which aims to provide spiritual teachings to Jews and others seeking guidance in their lives. The organization Shuva Israel is active in many countries.
