Amona Demolition Continues

Jerusalem, 7 February, 2017 (TPS) -- The demolition of the Amona houses evacuated last week by their residents, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling continues.

Yesterday (Monday) the demolition works began, as bulldozers and other heavy equipment began destroying the houses. The demolition is expected to continue for several days, and until every remnant of the outpost has been erased. The land will then be returned to its owners as mandated by the Court.

Nine houses in Ofra, a large settlement of which Amona was an outpost are also slated for demolition, as they too were built on privately owned Palestinian land.

The outcry caused by the forced evacuation of Amona played a significant role in the passing of the Legalization Law.
